Traffic Management Solution-ATC Team at work

Case Study: Active Traffic Control – Hobsonville Wastewater Pump Station Upgrade

Project Overview

Active Traffic Control (ATC) was selected to provide comprehensive traffic management solution for the Hobsonville Wastewater Pump Station (WW) Upgrade, PS6, a critical infrastructure project in Auckland. This project, set to run for 10 months, plays a vital role in ensuring Hobsonville Point can continue to grow and thrive by addressing future wastewater capacity needs. By building this new pump station, the community will have a sustainable solution for its increasing demands. ATC was awarded the contract as the preferred traffic management solution provider for CB Civil, a longstanding partner. The primary client, Watercare, is collaborating closely with other contractors, including On Target Drilling and City Contractors, to ensure the project’s success.

Scope of the Project

The Hobsonville WW Upgrade requires precise and well-coordinated traffic management throughout the construction process to maintain safety and ensure the smooth flow of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. ATC’s responsibilities include managing traffic flow during crucial phases such as potholing and investigative work. To accomplish this, we have deployed a skilled team, including a Category A Site Traffic Management Specialist (STMS), a team of traffic controllers, and a fleet of traffic management vehicles. The project officially began on 24th June 2024 with preliminary works and is expected to be completed by 31st March 2025. ATC’s role is pivotal in minimising disruption to the local residents and ensuring the contractors can work safely and efficiently.

Process and Approach

Our strong partnership with CB Civil positioned ATC as their preferred traffic management provider for this crucial project. The process started with CB Civil outlining the project’s scope, followed by detailed discussions regarding budgets, staffing needs, and timelines. ATC then swiftly mobilised its team and resources to ensure that all traffic management services were in place according to the agreed schedule. Our ability to quickly adapt and coordinate ensured the project started on time and progressed without delay.

Conclusion

This project highlights Active Traffic Control’s ability to deliver high-quality traffic management solutions for Auckland’s growing infrastructure needs. By providing seamless and reliable traffic management services, ATC is helping ensure the Hobsonville Wastewater Pump Station upgrade is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to the surrounding community. With our meticulous planning, professional execution, and close collaboration with CB Civil and other key stakeholders, we’re proud to be part of a project that will benefit Hobsonville Point for years to come.
